Watch an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting!

When we were considering joining Alcoholics Anonymous, we were very skeptical that "going to a meeting" could help us quit drinking. We mistakenly thought that Alcoholics Anonymous was a "club" for people who had already quit drinking and weren't having any more problems with alcohol. We did not know that the program of Alcoholics Anonymous would specifically address our alcoholism, give us the tools to begin our recovery, and provide us with the opportunity to meet people who had the same problem with alcohol that we did!

We had no idea what the meetings were like, and were scared to go because we thought that we would stand out in the crowd as embarrassed newcomers and would look and feel very self conscious.

We could not have been more mistaken!

When we went to our first meeting, one of the A.A. group members greeted us at the door. When we walked in and the other members present saw we were newcomers, the warmth and caring that they expressed by saying "Welcome Home!" was such a relief. We knew we were in the right place!

Going to our first A.A. meeting was the scariest thing we had ever done because we had no idea what the meetings and the A.A. people were like.

Because of the fear and reluctance we experienced when we considered attending our first meeting, we've created this documentary "A.A. Meeting on DVD" to provide a glimpse of what A.A. meetings are like and what you can expect to see and hear at an A.A. meeting.

The people you will see at this "A.A. Meeting on DVD" comprise two groups. Those portrayed as "A.A. group members" are supportive friends and family members (not alcoholics) following a script written by two recovering alcoholics, a script modeled after an actual A.A. meeting. However, the main speakers you will hear are recovering alcoholics and members of Alcoholics Anonymous. The stories they will share with you are real (specific identifiable places and names will be omitted.) However, other than first names and last initial, the speakers themselves will not be identified. No full faces will be shown so as to maintain the speaker's anonymity.

We are offering the A.A. Meeting on DVD at no charge because we want to help all suffering alcoholics understand the workings of Alcoholics Anonymous, and what to expect when they attend their first meeting.

We sincerely hope that the A.A. Meeting on DVD will help give everyone an understanding of how Alcoholics Anonymous and A.A. meetings help people Take Their Lives Back.
